Disposition Reached in Melissa Click Case

COLUMBIA, MO (January 29, 2016) - City Prosecutor Stephen Richey has decided to enter into a deferred prosecution agreement with the defendant, Melissa Click. On Jan. 25, Click was charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault. In exchange for a pledge for no further violations of the law for a period of one year, a waiver of any statute of limitations defenses, and twenty hours of community service work, the City will forgo prosecution of the case at this time. Should the defendant violate any of the terms of this agreement, prosecution of the case will resume at that point.

"Based on the facts of this case, I believe this disposition to be appropriate," Richey said. "This disposition is in keeping with my office's handling of dozens of similar Municipal cases and adequately serves the interest of justice by ensuring the defendant will not engage in similar conduct."

Mr. Richey will have no other statements related to this case.
