Fatal vehicle crash with a pedestrian

COLUMBIA, MO (July 1, 2016) - Date: 7/01/2016

Time: 12:32 p.m.

Location: 7200 block of East ABC Lane

Driver:            Ralph Ringer, Jr

                        Age: 56                      

                        Fulton, MO  

                        Injuries:  None

                        Occupants: None

Pedestrian:    Kiran Lamichhane

                        Age: 36

                        Columbia, MO

                        Injuries: Fatal

                       

At 12:32 p.m., Columbia Police responded to the area of 7200 ABC Lane for a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.  The vehicle involved is a 2005 Hyundai Sonata registered to the driver which sustained damage to the passenger side from the crash. The vehicle was traveling westbound on ABC Lane at the time of the crash, and struck the pedestrian who was walking westbound on the edge of the roadway. The pedestrian was transported from the scene by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital for life threatening injuries, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was not injured.  Alcohol was a contributing factor on the part of the driver. The family of the pedestrian has been notified. The investigation is on-going.
