Arrests made in the shots fired in the area of Garth Avenue and Business Loop 70

COLUMBIA, MO (June 27, 2016) - Columbia Police officers arrested Quenten Maurice Hurt, 24, and Darryl Eugene Troy, Jr., 23, in reference to the shots fired in the area of Garth Avenue and Business Loop 70 on June 22.

At 7:59 p.m. on 6/22/16, officers were dispatched to the area of Garth Avenue and Business Loop 70 in reference to shots fired. Officers located a vehicle in the 200 block of Lynn Street with substantial damage believed to have been caused by gunfire. There were no occupants in the vehicle at the time of officers' arrival.

The investigation revealed the vehicle that was located in the 200 block of Lynn Street had been traveling southbound on Grand Avenue. There were three occupants inside: an adult male, 31, an adult female, 25, and a one-year-old juvenile. Two separate vehicles, one containing Troy and the second containing Hurt, traveled northbound on Grand Avenue and began opening gunfire on the victims' vehicle. The victims' vehicle sustained two deflated tires as a result of being struck by the bullets causing the vehicle to collide with a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Lynn Street. The victims of the vehicle then fled the scene on foot. The adult female sustained several puncture wounds and lacerations caused by the rear glass in the vehicle shattering by gunfire. Through this investigation, detectives submitted warrant requests on Troy and Hurt.

On 6/25/16 at approximately 12:34 a.m., Street Crimes Unit detectives conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle at 900 Vandiver Drive, Budget Host Inn. Detectives identified Troy and Hurt as occupants of the vehicle. Troy and Hurt were both arrested on Felony Warrants with no bond.
