Street maintenance scheduled for 14 Columbia streets July 5-9

COLUMBIA, MO (June 29, 2016) - The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced on Wednesday that the Street Division will perform chip seal maintenance on the following streets July 5-9 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting:

 

IMPROVED STREET                              (FROM - TO)

Santana Lane                                       (Southampton Drive to south end)

Southampton Drive                              (Lake Valley Lane to Forum Boulevard)

Madrid Lane                                         (El Cortez Drive to Sieville Avenue)

Eastham Drive                                     (Green Meadows Road to North Brookline Drive)

Red Oak Lane                                       (Lynnwood Drive to Oaklawn Drive)

Greenbriar Drive                                   (Green Meadows Circle to north end)

Green Meadows Road                           (South Providence Outer Road to Bethel Street)

Mumford Drive                                      (Faurot Drive to north end)

Jesse Lane                                            (Jake Lane to south end)

Bradshaw Avenue                                 (Bray Avenue to Alsup Drive)

Plymouth Drive                                     (Yorktown Drive to south end)

Tahoe                                                    (Martin Drive to west end)

Bayonne Court                                       (Hulen Drive to south end)

Old Route K                                           (Southampton Drive to north end)

 

Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users can expect minor delays and should follow the instructions of flaggers and no parking signs posted in the area. In most cases, City crews plan to work on one side of the street at a time to allow for through traffic when possible. However, no parking will be permitted on the street while work is being done. Violators may be ticketed and towed at their own expense.

The current plan is to begin maintenance on Santana Lane and work down the list until finishing on Old Route K by July 9. However, this plan is subject to change due to weather, work-flow issues or other factors.

“This is a mobile operation,” said Street Maintenance Superintendent Sam Thomas. “Oil is applied and within minutes the rock is applied. Streets can be driven on after the roller makes its passes.
