Avenue of the Columns Work to Resume on Monday, April 4

COLUMBIA, MO (March 29, 2016) - Beginning on Monday, April 4, Aplex, Inc. of Linn, Mo. will resume construction on the current phase of the Avenue of the Columns project along Eighth Street from Walnut Street to Cherry Street.  The work will start at Eighth Street and Cherry Street then move north along Eighth Street  This project involves the demolition and construction of crosswalks, sidewalks, ramps, landings and handrails.  

Parking will be limited in this area as various parking stalls will be used by the contractor for material staging and for worker safety. Parking stall closures will be sporadic and unable to be defined by space for any given day.  With sidewalk closures, non-motorized transportation traffic will be limited within the project area however access to all businesses will be maintained.  

The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer with the completion date weather dependent. The total project infrastructure investment is $1,269,334 which is being funded by the 1/4 Cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax. 

Motorists and non-motorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone and use an alternate route whenever possible.
