Fatal vehicle crash Stadium Boulevard and U.S. 63

COLUMBIA, MO (September 2, 2016) - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle Crash

DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 09/02/16 @ 12:14 p.m.               

           

ACCIDENT LOCATION:  Stadium Blvd/U.S. 63 NB                

 

            

                                    

DRIVER 1:                Abilene Gatson

                                    Vandalia, MO

                                    Age: 19

                                    Injured: No

                                    Seatbelt use: Yes

                                    Alcohol/drug use: No

 

DRIVER 2:                Tyler Romaker

                                    Warrenton, MO

                                    Age: 22

                                    Injured: Fatal

                                    Helmet use: Yes

                                    Alcohol/drug use: Unknown/Pending Investigation

 

                                    

 

INCIDENT DETAILS:

 

                        The crash occurred as vehicle #2, a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle, was traveling westbound on Stadium Blvd at U.S. 63. Vehicle #1, a 2004 Dodge Dakota, was facing eastbound on Stadium Blvd making a left turn onto U.S. 63 Northbound. Vehicle #1 failed to yield to vehicle #2 causing vehicle #2 to crash into the side of vehicle #1. Driver #2 was transported by EMS to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Driver #2 was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

 The investigation is ongoing.
