Fatal vehicle crash 100 block of Texas Avenue
COLUMBIA, MO (September 4, 2016) - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatal vehicle crash
CAD # 2016172762
DATE/TIME: 09/04/16 @ 3:10 a.m.
LOCATION: 100 block of East Texas
Vehicle # 1: White 2011 Hyundai Accent
Driver #1: Briann Rodgers
Columbia, Missouri
Age: 35
Injured: Fatal
Seatbelt use: No
Alcohol/drug use: Unknown/Pending investigation
INCIDENT DETAILS:
A white Hyundai Accent was traveling west on Texas Ave near Providence. The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle continued traveling west off the roadway and struck a decorative concrete sign for Inside the Lines (100 East Texas Ave.).
The driver of the vehicle, Briann Rodgers, was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. He later died from his injuries sustained in the crash. The reason Rodgers left the roadway is unknown at this time. Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in this crash.
The investigation into this incident continues.
