living in Columbia.  Here are few important announcements you may find
of interest.

Mayor's Press Conference on Crime Prevention - June 2
Tuesday, June 2, Mayor Darwin Hindman will host a press conference at
9:00 a.m. to discuss crime prevention strategies.  Participants include
City Councilwoman Laura Nauser and Police Chief Ken Burton.  The press
conference will be held in the City Council Chamber, 701 E. Broadway. 
It will be broadcast live on the City Channel, which is available to
customers of Mediacom, Centurytel and Charter Communications.

State of the City Report, June 3 
Wednesday, June 3, City Manager Bill Watkins will deliver the annual
State-of-the-City report, as required by City Charter.  The speech will
be broadcast live on City Channel at 9:30 a.m., and a transcript will be
posted on the City’s website at www.gocolumbiamo.com.  The speech will
take place in the Fourth Floor Council Chamber at City Hall, and the
public is invited to attend.  

Public input sought on proposed Citizens Police Review Board 
legislation during special City Council meeting, June 8
Columbia City Council will hold a special meeting Monday, June 8,
dedicated to public review and discussion of proposed legislation that
would establish a Citizens Police Review Board. The meeting will begin
at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber, Fourth Floor City Hall, at 701 E.
