Thank you for your continued interest in Vision activities and events.
During the visioning process, the downtown topic group envisioned that
"Downtown Columbia is a hip and vibrant district with a diversity of
easily accessible businesses, residences, attractions, and institutions;
it is an exciting gathering place for all types of people.”
The Downtown Leadership Council is working with H3 Studio on a downtown
planning charrette that focuses on two areas:
- North Village Arts District
- Broadway/Providence
The charrette formally kicked off last week with key stakeholder
meetings and a public meeting to solicit input on the future for these
study areas, as well as other issues involving the greater downtown.
If you were able to attend any of last week's meetings, thank you for
your participation. If you were unable to attend, there is still time
to get involved.
Next week, H3 Studio will be back in Columbia for the entire week (6/21
- 6/25) and setting up shop at the recently renovated Berry Building,
1025 East Walnut (corner of Walnut & Orr St) for the next phase of
discussions. The charrette studio will be open all week from 8:00 a.m. -
5:00 pm, so please feel free to drop by and comment on the concept plans
as they are being developed by H3 Studio.
The public and stakeholders will also have an opportunity to engage the
design team at various public meetings. The meetings will help the team
synthesize the best aspects of the alternatives into a preferred plan
that will be developed in detail and tested for economic, design and
political feasibility.
Monday, June 21, Public Meeting, 6:00-8:00 pm, Dulany Hall, Columbia
