Mayor appoints citizens advisory committee to assist with
transportation infrastructure financial plans
	
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - Mayor Darwin Hindman announced the appointment
of a citizens advisory committee to assist with development of a
strategy for allocating transportation infrastructure costs and
identifying funding sources.
	The advisory committee will work with a technical committee
consisting of city and county staff and the financial consultant,
Stinson, Morrison & Hecker, L.L.P, to provide recommendations for
developing a framework and financial plan for funding Columbia's
transportation infrastructure.
	"I am pleased with the unique mix of citizens who volunteered
to serve on this important advisory committee," said Hindman. "Each
member brings to the committee a unique perspective that will be
beneficial to Columbia. Our balanced transportation system is a key
factor in the economic well-being of Columbia now and in the future.  We
have a list of identified needs. Now we need to identify options for
funding those needs."
	City Manager Raymond A. Beck added, "Transportation
infrastructure is an important component of Columbia's balanced
transportation system and this committee will assist the city in
developing a financial plan to keep our system viable into the future.
City staff is anxious to begin working with the advisory committee and
the consultant."
	Members include: Elaine Blodgett, Rhonda Carlson, Bill Crockett,
Dan French, Michael Hight, Karl Kruse, Charles Lamb, Ben Londeree, Mike
Martin, Al Plummer, Bob Pugh, Pat Smith, Don Stamper, Skip Walther, Dale
Whitman and Clyde Wilson.
	The committee will have its first meeting on Sept. 2 at 5:30
p.m. at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, in the Mezzanine conference room.
