First Night 2005 seeks volunteers

(COLUMBIA, MO) - First Night, an alcohol-free New Year's Eve
event, is looking for volunteers to assist with this year's
festivities. First Night activities will be held at locations throughout
downtown Columbia on the evening of Friday, Dec. 31.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including selling
admission buttons, serving as ushers, helping with children's
activities and assisting as stage hands. Volunteer shifts are two to
three hours. Opportunities are also available for youth and families to
help.
First Night activities include music, dance, drama and poetry
with representation from many genres and cultures. Activities are held
at ten locations throughout downtown.
Volunteers receive a complimentary admission button, allowing
them to enter all First Night venues before or after their shift. Anyone
interested in volunteering can contact the city of Columbia's Office
of Volunteer Services at 874-7499 or volunteer at GoColumbiaMo.com. For
additional information on the event, visit the First Night Web site at
