27th Annual Heritage Festival
COLUMBIA, MO (July 1, 2004) -- The 27th Annual Heritage Festival will
be held Saturday and Sunday, September 18 & 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
at Historic Nifong Park located at Hwy 63 S. & AC exit west. Admission
is free.

Visitors will be taken back to the traditions of the past. Listen,
learn, and see history as it comes alive. See artisans and tradesmen
dressed in 19th century attire demonstrating their trades and selling
their wares. Visit a Lewis and Clark replica campsite with a dugout
canoe and artifacts on display and an 1859 town with shopkeepers &
townspeople. See cowboys with their chuck wagons and American Indian
dancing, drumming and tepees. A large contemporary craft area will also
be featured.

Enjoy entertainment on four stages to include music, dancing and
storytelling. Featured entertainers include Pop Wagner "Renaissance
Cowboy", Chris Camp - Master of the Bullwhip. Other performers include
the Discovery Trio (Lewis & Clark themed music), Ironweed Bluegrass
Band, Cowboy Poets, a fiddlers competition, Professor Farquar's Great
American Medicine Show, a Jazz & Blues stage, and many local favorites.
Children will enjoy numerous activities in the Fun for Young'uns Area
and the entire family can ride on a hayride. Tour the Historic Maplewood
Home and the Walter's Boone County Historical Museum. Great food and a
beautiful park setting will make the Heritage Festival a family
tradition.

sponsored by the Columbia Convention & Visitors Bureau Tourism
Development Program, Columbia Daily Tribune, Boone County Historical
Society, Missouri Division of Natural Resources, and the Missouri River
