New sweeper for bike lanes
	(COLUMBIA, MO) -  The city of Columbia Public Works Department
announces the Street Division is operating a new Schwarze A4000 compact
air sweeper. This new service will allow additional cleaning of the
bicycle lanes/routes defined in the Columbia Code of Ordinances.
Approximately 28 miles of bicycle lanes/routes will be cleaned every
three weeks.
	In response to recommendations from citizens groups, the city of
Columbia appropriated funds for a bicycle lane/route sweeper and
operator in the 2004 fiscal year budget process. The sweeper was
purchased at a cost of $79,755 and started service during the week of
May 3.
