Watkins named acting director of Planning and Development Department

COLUMBIA, MO (October 7, 2004) -- City Manager Raymond A. Beck
announced this afternoon that Assistant City Manager Bill Watkins will
assume the duties of acting director of Planning and Development
effective Oct. 8. Senior Planner Chuck Bondra has been serving as acting
director in addition to his normal heavy work load.

The search for a new director has taken longer than originally
anticipated and the appointment of Mr. Watkins will provide additional
assistance to the department. The screening committee assisting the city
manager in the search for a new director will interview additional
candidates within the next week and Beck is hopeful a new director can
be appointed as soon as possible.
