Hinkson Clean Sweep 2005
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announces the
HINKSON CLEAN SWEEP 2005 Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m. to noon. It's a
morning to get a little bit wet, have fun outside and clean our streams.
Everyone is welcome!
Anyone can participate. Wear old shoes. All necessary supplies
will be provided by our sponsors. Pizza, courtesy Domino's Pizza, will
be available after the cleanup. Prizes will be awarded for the weirdest
trash. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 people who sign up.
To participate, send an email to scott.hamilton at mdc.mo.gov or
call 256-2602 and leave a message with your name and phone number, and
the site you will clean (below). If you want to participate as a group,
include the approximate number in your group.
After signup, just go to any of the four sites listed below on
the day of the Clean Sweep. Signs will be posted near the sites.
Supplies, directions and other volunteers will be there from 10 a.m. to
noon.
Site 1: Walnut Street Bridge over Hinkson Creek - Take Walnut
Street immediately north of Stephens Lake. Go to the bridge at the end
of the street.
Site 2: Providence Road Bridge over Hinkson Creek, just south of
Mizzou Arena on Providence Road - Turn east onto Recreation Drive.
Hinkson Creek is right there.
Site 3: Hinkson Creek Valley Neighborhood, Old 63 at Bluffdale
Drive (North of Shephard Blvd at Old 63) - Turn west on Bluffdale where
Hinkson flows under Old 63. Take Bluffdale to the end of the road for
parking.
Site 4: Flat Branch Tributary to Hinkson Creek, along the MKT
Trail at Martin Luther King Memorial on Stadium - Meet at the trailhead
parking lot.
