Missouri Association of Realtors donates trauma bears for children 

COLUMBIA, MO (December 22, 2005) -- On Thursday, Dec. 22, the Missouri
Association of Realtors made a donation of teddy bears to the Columbia
Fire Department for the "Trauma Bear" program. Firefighters and other
emergency workers have used teddy bears for a number of years to help
ease the trauma and suffering of small children at fires, vehicle
crashes and other emergency events. 

The Columbia Fire Department is honored to be the recipient of this
generous gift from the Missouri Chapter of the National Association of
Realtors. These bears are an important component of the Columbia Fire
Department's customer service mission. 

Every year, hundreds of children in Missouri are displaced because of
fire, illness or abuse. Over the past seven years the Realtors of the
Missouri Certified Residential Specialist Chapter have responded to the
needs of these children in the form of cuddly teddy bears. These bears
offer comfort and security in a time of crisis. The Missouri CRS Chapter
raises funds annually through donations and raffles to purchase the
bears. 

CRS is the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association
of Realtors. It's nearly 40,000 designees have completed extensive
educational training to increase their knowledge and professionalism in
the field of residential real estate.
