Traffic delays on East Broadway (Route WW)

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced that
delays in traffic flow on East Broadway between Old 63 and Brickton Road
will be experienced during the construction of the East Broadway (Route
WW) Improvements Project.
Beginning Tuesday, March 8, Emery Sapp and Sons Inc. of
Columbia, Mo., will again begin the process of removing roadway rock by
use of explosives along this corridor on a daily basis. For safety
reasons to the public and construction personnel, it is required that
all two-way radios and cell phones be turned off while traveling through
the construction zone. Periodic delays of 30 minutes or more will occur,
typically around 3 p.m., in order to set charges off and clean debris
which may have fallen onto the traveled roadway. This phase of
construction is expected to last approximately two to three weeks,
weather permitting.
It is anticipated that total project construction will be
completed in the winter of 2005. East Broadway will remain open to
traffic throughout the reconstruction, however, temporary delays in
traffic flow as construction progresses should be expected. Care should
be exercised in the construction area and alternate routes should be
used.
