Mayor to release city manager candidate names Wednesday; public
meetings scheduled

COLUMBIA, MO (November 8, 2005) -- Mayor Darwin Hindman will hold a
press conference at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Fourth Floor
Conference Room at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, to release the names of
candidates for the city manager position. The press conference will be
aired live on the Columbia Channel, a cable access station that
broadcasts on Charter Communications Channel 2 and on Mediacom Channel
13. City Manager Raymond A. Beck is scheduled to retire early next
year.

City Manager candidates will visit Columbia Nov. 11 - 13 for the
purpose of individual press conferences and interviews.

On Friday, Nov. 11, the candidates will hold press conferences from 1 -
3:30 p.m. in the Mezzanine Conference Room.

Also on Friday, the candidates will participate in a community forum
from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located on the
Fourth Floor of City Hall. During this forum, moderators Rod Gelatt and
Jo Sapp will ask the candidates questions submitted by members of the
community. The public will not be able to question candidates directly
at the forum. Citizens may submit questions through the City's Web
site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com or by calling (573) 817-6400. Questions
submitted may be asked by the moderators and can be submitted until noon
on Thursday, Nov. 10.
