MC+ Program Changes to Affect Benefits for Missouri Families
COLUMBIA, MO (September 28, 2005) -- Missouri families enrolled in the
MC+ program should be aware of recent changes to the benefits. The MC+
program was created to provide uninsured Missouri families with
affordable health care coverage.
Important changes regarding enrollment in MC+ became effective
September 1, 2005. Many families will now be required to begin paying a
monthly premium. All families required to pay premiums for the MC+
program must pre-pay for the next month's coverage before the end of
the current month. If a payment is missed, children will be ineligible
to re-enroll in MC+ for a period of six months.
Participants in the MC+ program will be notified via mail regarding any
changes in their enrollment requirements. In order to stay informed on
how the changes will affect their individual situation it is crucial for
families to keep their current address updated with their caseworker. It
is also important for MC+ program participants to open all mail they
receive from the Family Support Division and respond as soon as
possible.
If parents and/or children lose MC+ coverage, affordable health care is
available through the Columbia/Boone County Health Department (573)
874-7356 and the Family Health Canter (573) 214-2314.
