Over 1,500 volunteers have preregistered for citywide trash pickup
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia's Office of Volunteer
Services reports that 1,588 volunteers from 127 groups have
preregistered to participate in this Saturday's Cleanup Columbia
event. Volunteers will be throughout Columbia Saturday morning picking
up litter. Following trash pickup, volunteers are invited to a picnic
lunch at Twin Lakes Recreation Area. This is the tenth Cleanup Columbia
event.  
	Cleanup Columbia is sponsored by APAC-Missouri Division, the
Sierra Club, CenturyTel, the Columbia Daily Tribune, 102.3 BXR, WB5 and
KOMU TV 8. The Golden K Kiwanis Club provides special assistance for the
event.

Janet's Walk at Cleanup Columbia
	Janet Dreifus, a terminal cancer patient, will be participating
in this year's cleanup along with her giant poodle, Luke. Dreifus has
chosen to make a difference by picking up litter through an effort she
calls "Janet's Walk." Dreifus will participate in the opening of
the Douglass Neighborhood Trail and cleanup beginning at 9 a.m. across
from St. Luke's Church, 204 East Ash Street. Mayor Darwin Hindman and
Councilwoman Almeta Crayton will also participate in the Douglass
Neighborhood Trail event. To learn more about Janet Dreifus and her
