Sewer manhole work on College Avenue, Providence
Road									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - During the next several weeks, the Public Works
Department Sewer Utility will replace all sanitary sewer manhole frames
and covers on College Avenue between Business Loop 70 East and Rogers
Street and on Providence Road between Business Loop 70 East and Stadium
Boulevard. This work is necessary because of a milling and overlay
project that MODOT has scheduled for these streets beginning in
mid-August. 
	Beginning Monday, July 10, and continuing through Friday, July
14, the Sewer Utility will begin removing the concrete pavement around
each manhole and installing new manhole frames and covers. The top of
the new manholes will be left one-half inch higher than the existing
pavement. A temporary asphalt overlay will be applied from the top of
each elevated manhole down to the existing street surface. This will
result in a slight irregular pavement surface at each manhole until the
milling and overlay project is completed. The work is expected to be
completed prior to Aug. 11.
	The streets will remain open but traffic may be diverted through
the work area. The work will begin at 9 a.m. and will be completed prior
to 9 p.m. each day.
	Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution when driving
through the work area and use alternate routes when possible. Anyone
having questions related to the planned work should call the Sewer
Utility at (573) 874-6287.
