Start construction of the Greek Town storm sewer improvements & South
Campus Relief Sewer Project - Phase 2
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning of the construction of a sanitary sewer and storm drainage
improvement project in the Greek Town area of the University of Missouri
campus. This project is scheduled to begin May 22. 
	Beginning that morning, the intersections of Kentucky Boulevard
at Providence Road and Brandon Street at Providence Road will be closed
to traffic. Curtis Avenue will be temporarily changed to two-way traffic
during the summer months and will be closed at Kentucky Boulevard in
conjunction with this project. Local traffic will be allowed onto
Kentucky Boulevard from Maryland Avenue in order to access the
University of Missouri's Jones Residence Hall. Richmond Avenue will be
closed to thru traffic between Burnam Avenue and Kentucky Boulevard.
Future news releases regarding road closures/openings status and
restrictions will be issued as construction progresses.
	J. C. Industries Inc., Jefferson City, Mo., was the successful
bidder on the project in the amount of $922,374.75. This project
consists of 669 linear feet of reinforced concrete box culvert, 732
linear feet of storm drainage pipe, 834 linear feet of sanitary sewer
main relocations, including a road bore underneath Providence Road
between Brandon Street and Kentucky Boulevard, the reconstruction of a
portion of Kentucky Boulevard and other incidental work.
	It is anticipated that construction will be completed by Aug. 5.
Care should be exercised in the construction area and alternate routes
should be used.
