Start construction of the State Route PP Safety Project
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning construction of the State Route PP Safety Project at the
intersection of Aztec Boulevard. This project is scheduled to begin
Monday, Sept. 25, weather permitting. 
	State Route PP will be closed to traffic at the intersection
with Aztec Boulevard. Detours will be marked by construction signage and
should be utilized. Access to areas south of Aztec Boulevard, including
the Indian Hills Subdivision, will be from State Route PP via Rice Road
as detour signage depicts. Areas north of Aztec Boulevard must be
accessed via Mexico Gravel Road.
	Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. Of Columbia, Mo., was the successful
bidder on the project in the amount of $149,430.40. This project will
consist of lowering the pavement of State Route PP in the area of the
Aztec Boulevard intersection to improve sight distance along with
miscellaneous storm drainage and incidental work.	
	It is anticipated that construction will be completed by late
October, weather permitting. Care should be exercised in the
construction area and alternate routes should be used.
