Water main upgrade projects start next week
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Water and Light will start two water
main upgrade projects on Monday, April 16. Crews will add a water main
on the west side of Oakland Gravel Road from Vandiver Drive to Grace
Ellen Drive. The project is expected to take 120 days to complete and
might restrict traffic at some points during the construction process.
Crews will also replace a water main on Walnut Street from 10th Street
to College Avenue. Parking on the north side of the street will be
restricted during the 90 days it takes to complete the project.
Motorists are urged to use caution while driving in these areas.
During the water main construction, customers will be
individually notified of any temporary disruptions in their water
service. Flushing of the water lines might also occur, which would cause
a slight discoloration in the water. Customers who experience this
problem should let the water run for a few minutes until the
discoloration has disappeared. The water will continue to be safe to
drink.
