Start construction of Chapel Hill Road Project
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning construction of the Chapel Hill Road Project. Construction is
slated to begin Monday, April 30.
Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. of Columbia, Mo., was the successful
bidder on the project in the amount of $2,972,959.89. This project will
consist of the construction of a 42-foot wide Portland cement concrete
pavement with median islands, a bridge spanning Goodin Branch, Scott’s
Branch channel relocation and stabilization, 1,950 feet of storm
drainage piping ranging in size from 15 to 84 inch diameter, the
construction of a storm water detention basin, an 8-10 foot wide pedway
along the north side and a 5-foot wide sidewalk along the south side,
and other incidental work. The project limits are from Scott’s
Boulevard at the east end extending west to Gillespie Bridge Road. No
road closures are expected, however, work at the intersection of
Scott’s Boulevard and Chapel Hill Road will require lane
restrictions to facilitate the improvement and signalization of that
intersection.
It is anticipated that construction will be completed by fall of
2007. Care should be exercised in the construction area and alternate
routes should be used.
