Columbia Transit to provide better Saturday service	
								
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department
announces changes to Columbia Transit that will take place immediately.
The purple commuter route to the theatres will be discontinued effective
immediately. This route was initiated in 2004, but has seen a
significant decline in passengers and remains far below expectations
with less than 800 rides annually. Staff and Council felt it no longer
warrants continued resource expenditure. 
	Modifications to Saturday routes will be implemented effective
Aug. 11 allowing for a 60-minute headway between service, which was
previously 80 minutes. The new time frame allows for better Saturday
accommodations for passengers. The Old 63 corridor will also be added to
the Saturday schedule, which was previously only offered Monday through
Friday. The changes to the Saturday schedule will not affect the regular
weekday schedule. Passengers are encouraged to check the new schedule
for Saturday service to ensure proper bus times and bus numbers as the
color codes and numbering system for Saturdays have changed. New
Saturday schedules are available on all the city buses, at the Wabash
Station at 126 N. 10th St., and on the city’s Web site at
www.GoColumbiMo.com. For additional information, call the Columbia
