Snow removal operations

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department
announces that street personnel will be on duty tonight to monitor the
pending snow expected in the area. If an ice and/or snow event occurs, a
full crew will be called in one to two hours before the event is
expected to begin to clear the roadways.
Staff will follow normal procedures focusing on major
intersections and priority streets first, and then moving into secondary
and residential areas. If snow does occur and citizens shovel their
drives, they should place the snow on the right side of the driveway as
they are looking at the street. This helps the city keep from plowing
driveways shut when performing cleanup operations. The city also asks
that residents not park on the streets, if possible, so it is easier to
clean streets in a more timely fashion.
The snow operations will maintain contact with the Joint
Communications office to handle emergency situations.
