Business in south central Columbia catches fire after lightning strike

COLUMBIA, MO (July 19, 2007) - An attic fire broke out at 2201 Old
Highway 63 South (Creative Photography) when the business was struck by
lightning. Shortly before 3 p.m., Carl Neitzert (an employee) was
escorting a patron to a vehicle when he noticed smoke coming from the
gable on the southwest corner of the business. He returned to the
business where the owners called 9-1-1.

The first arriving fire unit reported heavy smoke and flames coming
from the roof and gable on the same southwest part of the business.
Firefighters had to cut a ventilation hole in the peak of the roof to
relieve the smoke and fire gasses to allow an interior attack.

Shortly after the fire was under control the business owners were
allowed to remove several personal belongings and equipment.
