Boone County flood update: preventive steps and quick responses keep
situation stable
COLUMBIA, MO (May 10, 2007) - Member agencies and governments
participating in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) report stable
conditions throughout Boone County, as of 3 p.m. today. The EOC is
running on a standby basis for the next 24 hours. It will resume full
operation if warranted by cresting conditions later this week. Agency
and government officials will continue their daily conferences.
There is no need for volunteers or donations of food and water at this
time. If conditions change, a new call will go out.

Site Status Reports
● Rocheport: Field staff report failure of a wall around a personal
residence. Pumps are in place to manage that condition and to remove
water from behind the levee.
● Huntsdale: Field staff are monitoring drainage pipes to identify
and clear any clogging.
● McBaine: NO CHANGE…All or most of the residents have voluntarily
evacuated for their own safety. The city of Columbia’s water treatment
plant is not in danger. The city’s nearby wetland sewage treatment
facility is functioning normally.
● Hartsburg: A resident identified a low spot at Bush Landing.
Sandbags are positioned there in case they’re needed. Southern Boone
County Fire Protection District personnel will monitor the culverts and
continue to watch weak spots in levees and are prepared to sandbag.
● Wilton: Local residents have shored up low spots at the levee with
sandbags placed 3- 4 high atop the levee. They have stopped work and do
not need any assistance.
