Bike, Walk & Wheel Week Breakfast Stations Day
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The main event of Bike, Walk & Wheel
Week-Breakfast Stations Day is May 18! Citizens are invited to drop in
at one of the many breakfast stations around town on Friday morning as
they bike, walk or wheel to work, school or other destinations. This is
a great time to challenge family, friends, coworkers and employees to
travel “under their own steam” and incorporate active travel into
their day.
Free breakfast stations will be open from 7-9 a.m. for those
getting around by their own power. There will be live radio broadcasts
from the two "early-bird" stations which open at 6:30 a.m. (KFRU's David
Lile at the Colosseum Bistro and KPLA's Chris Kellogg & Monica Senecal
at the ARC), and from the MKT Trailhead at Stewart and Providence (BXR's
Mo Louis) which opens at 7 a.m. Other locations are:
● MKT Trailhead at Forum Boulevard, sponsored by Clover's and
Tryathletics
● Hoss's Market and Rotisserie (Forum & Nifong), sponsored by
Hoss's
● Stephens Lake Park (E. Broadway), sponsored by The Coffee Ground
● D & H Drugstore (W. Broadway & West Boulevard), sponsored by D &
H Drugstore and Mayor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health
● Upper Crust Bakery and Cafe (Village at Cherry Hill near corner
of Chapel Hill and Scott), sponsored by Upper Crust
● KeLani Salon and Spa (1100 E. Walnut), sponsored by KeLani
● Jack's Gourmet Restaurant (1903 Business Loop 70 East),
sponsored by Jack's
Additionally, 17 schools will participate in breakfast stations
day. Some schools will set up their own breakfast stations at school,
while others will take advantage of the already established stations.
Those schools located in non-walkable parts of the city will have a walk
at their school and a breakfast. Hundreds of Columbia school children
are expected to walk to school as part of breakfast stations day.
