Columbia/Boone County Health Department key members to present at state
conference

COLUMBIA, MO (October 25, 2007) - The Columbia/Boone County Health
Department will have two key staff members presenting during the
“Prevent, Promote and Protect Through the Life’s Span” state
conference. The conference is sponsored by the Missouri Association of
Local Public Health Agencies and the Missouri Public Health Association.
It will be held Oct. 29-30 at the Holiday Inn Select in Columbia, Mo. 

On Oct. 29, Columbia/Boone County Health Department Planner Linda R.
Cooperstock, MPH will present on the city’s experience with the
smoke-free worksite ordinance as a public health policy. Her
presentation will focus on the importance of a grassroots coalition
action and ensuring everyone in the coalition understands and delivers
the same public message. She will also describe the process involved
with enacting a public health ordinance in a similar community. 

On Oct. 30, Columbia/Boone County Health Department Educator Stacia
Reilly, MEd, CHES and Ian Thomas, executive director of the PedNet
coalition, will discuss their efforts encouraging citizens to be more
active over the past four years. They will discuss projects they have
successfully implemented and the impact these projects have had on the
community.
