Columbia Disabilities Commission invites public to July 24 roundtable
meeting
COLUMBIA, MO (July 21, 2008) - The Columbia Disabilities Commission
will hold a public roundtable to discuss issues of importance to persons
with disabilities. Anyone with a disability or interest in
disability-related issues is encouraged to participate Thursday, July
24, 2 - 4 p.m., at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), 1701 West
Ash.
Guest speakers include Stephanie Logan, from the deaf and
hard-of-hearing community; Sarah Smalls, secretary of People First;
Bruce Berkett from the Hepatitis C Alliance; Ken Cissna from RAIN; David
Helling from Phoenix Programs; and a representative from New Horizons
Program.
After short presentations, the disabilities commission anticipates that
attendees, guest speakers and commission members will begin to share
ideas; explore ways to promote greater awareness and understanding of
the scope and variety of disabling conditions; identify collective
concerns; and unite to create a better community for Columbia’s
impaired and disabled citizens.
For more information, please call Homer Page, chairperson of the
Columbia Disabilities Commission, at (573) 446-0441.
