May Community Circle - 'Missouri Civil Rights Initiative - Civil Right
or Civil Wrong?'
COLUMBIA, MO (May 6, 2008) - The Columbia Human Rights Commission
invites the community to an interactive and informative program about
affirmative action and the recent ballot initiative to eliminate it.
“Missouri Civil Rights Initiative - Civil Right or Civil Wrong?”
Wednesday, May 7, 6 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.
Columbia Public Library Friends Room.
This is an opportunity to engage in honest, respectful dialogue with
fellow citizens, to listen and learn, and to share and hear different
perspectives - not to debate, argue, convince or convert.
What are your personal experiences with and views on affirmative
action?
What do you know about affirmative action - its history and its impact?
What difference would an affirmative action ban have on you? On the
community?
Did you sign a MO Civil Rights Initiative petition? Would you in the
future? Why or why not?
Monthly Community Circles are held to strengthen community
relationships and to create a culture of inclusion and understanding
through small-group dialogue.
Community Circles are free and open to the public. Adults and mature
teens are welcome, regardless of personal perspective or life
experience.
