Fair Housing Symposium to be held Friday

COLUMBIA, MO (April 22, 2009) - The Missouri Commission on Human Rights
and the City of Columbia Commission on Human Rights will host a Fair
Housing Symposium on Friday, April 24, from 9 a.m. - noon at the
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services,
1005 West Worley in Columbia. The event is free and open to the public.

The symposium will focus on the evolution of fair housing over the past
40 years with an emphasis on enforcement, or lack thereof, and predatory
lending as an impediment to fair housing. Panel members include:
● Denise Gibson, Compliance Branch Chief - US Department of Housing
and Urban Development
● Rigel Oliveri, Law Professor - University of Missouri School of
Law
● Sheryl Rose, Regional Manager - Missouri Commission on Human
Rights
● Tom Lata, Community Development Coordinator - City of Columbia
● Bob Walters, Local Realtor and Developer

Sponsors include: US Department of Housing and Urban Development,
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services,
