One lane of Highway 63 restricted on Tuesday
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Repairs will be made on the Columbia Terminal
Railroad (COLT) highway-rail crossing at Highway 63 on Tuesday, Sept.
15, weather permitting. The crossing is located in north Columbia
between Paris Road and Brown Station Road. The work will take
approximately six hours and will be done during the middle part of the
day in order to avoid both the morning and evening rush periods. Traffic
on both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 63 will be
restricted to one lane while the repairs are made.
Crews will use recycled panels from old crossings to smooth the
Highway 63 rail crossing for motorists. The crossing will be replaced by
a bridge that will be completed in approximately 15 months. Bridge
construction is expected to start Oct. 1.
The COLT is a short line railroad owned and operated by Columbia
Water & Light. It provides railroad freight service to Columbia and
mid-Missouri.
