Afternoon Fire Damages Duplex

Columbia Fire Fighters were called at 3:57 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 to 3815 Juniper Court, Apartment A, for a report of a structure fire.

On arrival, crews found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home, which were brought under control within approximately five minutes.  The home suffered minor damage to the rear deck and siding.  All fire damage was contained to the exterior.  There were no injuries and damage is estimated at $3,000.

No one was home at the time of the fire.  Neighbors noticed the fire and called 9-1-1 for fire department assistance.

Investigators from the Columbia Fire Department were working at the scene and at this time, the cause remains under investigation.
