Snow moves in to Boone County; winter weather advisory in effect until
midnight Friday
COLUMBIA, MO (February 4, 2010) - As snow falls in Columbia and Boone
County, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) asks residents to make
sure they are prepared. Preparation for accumulating snow includes your
home as well as your vehicle.
“Now that the snow has started to fall, preparation should focus on
caution and safety,” says OEM Director Zim Schwartze. “If you must
travel, take things a little slower, be ready for slick roads and be
aware of other drivers. If you’re at home, preparation includes making
sure you have enough food and water, candles and flashlight batteries.
And of course, stay tuned to local media for the latest weather
information. By taking a few minutes to make sure you’re ready you can
save yourself a lot of hassle, and maybe even save your life.”
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory
through Friday night. Forecasts call for roughly two to four inches of
snow in Boone County.
