Show-Me Yards and Neighborhoods Workshops - Feb. 18, Feb. 25 and March
4
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia Public Works Department
announces the “Show-Me Yards and Neighborhoods” workshops on
Thursdays, Feb. 18, Feb. 25 and March 4, from 6-8:30 p.m. If you are
interested in great lawns and clean streams, environmentally-friendly
yard care or need answers to yard care problems, please plan to attend
any or all three of these workshops. The workshops will be held at the
General Services Building on the MU Campus at the corner of Stadium and
Monk Drive, near Hearnes Center.
Presentations will include:
February 18
Kickoff and introduction/ how we got here - Todd Houts
Basic lawn care for a healthy natural lawn - Brad Fresenburg
Equipment for a healthy lawn - Kent Shannon
February 25
Composting at home - Steve Callis, Public Works Department Volunteer
Stream buffers, water’s natural defense - Nicki Fuemmeler
Using natural/organic products in your lawn and landscape - Jeff
Zimmerschied
March 4
Right plant/right place - Chris Starbuck
How to build your own rain barrel - Missouri River Communities Network
Resist the urge to spray, environmentally-friendly pest control - Mary
Kroening
Managing how water flows - John Glenn

available. These workshops are sponsored by the City of Columbia Public
Works, Boone County Public Works and the University of Missouri
