Mayor to Click “Submit,” Send Application to Google
COLUMBIA, MO (March 26, 2010)
When: Friday, March 26, at 4 p.m.
Where: Conference room 1A (off main lobby), City Hall Addition, 701 E.
Broadway
What: Witness Columbia Mayor Darwin Hindman and others sending an
online application asking Google to bring high-speed internet to
Columbia and the surrounding area
Invited guests: Boone County Commissioners; City Council members;
community supporters and technology visionaries
Background: Google has invited communities across the country to
demonstrate their support for bringing high-speed fiber to homes in an
experimental environment. The application deadline is March 26. For all
applicants, Google will assess physical terrain, climate, population,
presence of technology infrastructure, applicable laws and regulations
and distinctive characteristics in the community.
