FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Driver Fleeing from One Accident is involved in an Extrication Accident
Units of the Columbia Missouri Fire Department were called at 5:31 p.m. on Tuesday, November 09, 2010 to McBaine and W. Worley for a reported extrication accident.
Fire Fighters arrived on the scene and found four vehicles that were involved in a t-bone collision that occurred at the intersection. Crews used specialized hydraulic equipment to stabilize the vehicle and remove a male driver from a green 1999 Chrysler Sebring that had been t-boned while attempting to cross Worley. The driver was transported to University Hospital with life threatening injuries. The Sebring was struck by a 2003 Dodge Dakota that was traveling on Worley. The passenger, a 27 yr old female was injured and transported to The University of Missouri Women and Childrens Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Driver and two children who were also in the vehicle had no injuries.
Investigators stated that the male driver of the Sebring had rear ended a red Ford Pick Up truck at the intersection of Sexton and Garth. The driver then left the scene of that accident with the Ford PU following to get a license number. The Sebring turned South on McBaine and after running the stop sign at Worley it was hit by the east bound Dodge Dakota. The impact of the collision then caused the Sebring to make contact with a fourth vehicle, a white 2003 Chevy Utility Truck that was north bound on McBaine at the intersection. The driver and the passenger of the utility truck were uninjured.
