Dumpsters to be placed throughout East Campus neighborhood

COLUMBIA, MO (July 27, 2011) - The Office of Neighborhood Services, in conjunction with the East Campus Neighborhood Association and East Campus rental property owners, will have trash dumpsters placed at strategic locations throughout the neighborhood beginning Friday, July 29.

Historically, the move-in and move-out times for East Campus rental properties have generated trash along the streets causing an eyesore for residents and violations of city code. The additional dumpsters are a proactive way to help solve these problems. Trash items (furniture, household items, mattresses, lumber) can be placed in the dumpsters. Items that cannot be placed in the dumpsters are tires, electronics, washers, dryers, trash compactors, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, hot water heaters, ovens and woodstoves.

The dumpsters will remain in place until Monday, Aug. 15. The Office of Neighborhood Services is also interested in working with other city-recognized neighborhoods to sponsor neighborhood cleanups.
