Rollover Accident ends in Hinkson Creek

Columbia Fire Fighters were called at 3:12 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011 to the bridge over Hinkson Creek on St Charles Road near the intersection of Tower Dr. for a reported rollover accident.

Fire Fighters arrived on the scene and found a white Dodge Ram pick-up upside down in Hinkson Creek just north of the bridge. As fire fighters made their way to the vehicle the 23 yr old female driver crawled out of the vehicle, uninjured. She was then assisted back up to the road way where she refused treatment from the Medic’s on scene. She had been traveling west bound on St Charles when her vehicle left the road just before the bridge and ended up on its roof in the creek.

While on the scene, Boone Hospital Ambulance, Medic 111, collided with Snozzle 1 of the Columbia Fire Department. No injuries and minor damage were reported as a result of the accident. St Charles Road was closed and traffic diverted for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by Officers of the Columbia Police Department during the response and clean-up of the accident.

The Columbia Fire Department reminds all motorists to wear their seatbelts. The law requires all persons in the vehicle to be seat belted in but just as important is the fact that seat belts save lives.
