Special Veterans Day Event Tomorrow at Welcome Home, Inc.

COLUMBIA, MO (November 10, 2011) - Columbia's Welcome Home, Inc. is Only Missouri Recipient of
Benjamin Moore's "Color Care Across America" Project

Welcome Home to Receive Colorful Transformation

Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid is pleased to announce that Columbia's homeless veterans shelter, Welcome Home, Inc., is the Missouri recipient of Benjamin Moore's "Color Care Across America" project. Nominated by the city/county Division of Human Services, on behalf of Mayor McDavid, Welcome Home was chosen by the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) to receive a color makeover. The makeover will take place tomorrow, on Veterans Day, at 10:00 am at the Welcome Home facility at 1206 Rangeline Street in Columbia.

Nationwide, the project will transform 51 shelters using approximately 3,000 gallons of donated Benjamin Moore paint. The Welcome Home transformation will use about 32 gallons of "Raccoon Hollow" and "White Dove" paint. Local Benjamin Moore retailer Johnston Paint & Decorating tinted and will deliver the paint to the shelter. The local volunteer paint contractor, Brighter Days Painting, will handle minor repair on walls, ceilings and trim to properly prepare the surfaces being painted. The Painting & Decorating Contractors of America are also involved with Color Care Across America.

Mayor McDavid, leadership from the shelter, as well as representation from the Columbia/Boone County Dept. of Public Health and Human Services, will be on-site, prepared for interviews.
