Roadwork on East Broadway between William St and Ann St to cause delays and lane restrictions
COLUMBIA, MO (December 13, 2012) - Columbia Public Works announces that beginning Monday, December 17 at 8:00 am, both east bound lanes of Broadway between William Street and Ann Street will be closed to allow crews to replace deteriorating concrete pavement. This will result in a single lane of traffic for both east and west bound Broadway and some lane and turning restrictions. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, December 21 at 5:00 PM, weather permitting.
Both lanes are being closed for worker safety and to allow the project to be completed in a shorter time period to reduce the number of working day delays for motorist. Work is also being performed after winter break begins for the University of Missouri and local colleges.
Motorist, pedestrians, and cyclist are urged to allow plenty of extra time for commutes and to plan to use alternate routes if possible.
Broadway between William St. and Ann St. will be reduced to one east bound and one west bound lane of traffic. Traffic cones and temporary lane stripping will be used to mark temporary lanes. Traffic control signals will operate, but will be modified to restrict some turns which are outlined below.
No right turns will be allowed from north bound William St. onto east bound Broadway.
No left turns will be allowed from west bound Broadway onto south bound William St. For traffic from east of Old Highway 63 needing to go to Boone Hospital, a detour is marked for west bound Broadway traffic to go north on Old Highway 63, west on Walnut St, and then south on William St.
The outside (closest to the curb) east bound lane of Broadway as you approach William St. will be restricted to right turn only onto south bound William St.
Again, we urge motorist to allow plenty of extra time for their commutes, slow down and be patient, and use caution around the work zone. We appreciate your patience while we improve Columbia's roadways.
