Smoke Scare at Jefferson Middle School

COLUMBIA, MO (May 12, 2014) - At 1:08pm on Monday May 12, 2014 the Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at 713 Rogers, Jefferson Middle School.

Fire crews arrived on the scene two minutes later and found no visible signs of smoke or fire.  A property representative stated construction work generated smoke that was noticed in rooms 217 and 219.  

Upon further investigation crews found that hot work being performed on metal in the lower floors of the building generated smoke that migrated through some portions of the school.

There were no injuries or damage associated with this event.
