Columbia will host 2017 MSHSAA Show-Me Bowl
COLUMBIA, MO (April 11, 2016) - Columbia is the new home for the 2017 Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Show-Me Bowl. The Missouri state championship football games will be played on Faurot Field in Memorial Stadium at the University of Missouri. The MSHSAA Board awarded the event to Columbia at their annual meeting on Friday. The event was previously hosted in St. Louis.
The City of Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) partnered with the University of Missouri Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (MU-ICA) to assemble and present the bid to MSHSAA. Supporting partners included Columbia’s lodging community, the Boone County Commission, the Columbia Hospitality Association and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
“The Show-Me Bowl is a great event, and we’re very excited that Columbia will be the host in 2017,” Amy Schneider, director of the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, said. “For these high school athletes to play a game where the Mizzou Tigers call home is a special experience.”
The CVB and MU-ICA also bid on a five-year agreement for the Show-Me Showdown basketball championships for the 2018-2022 events. The MSHSAA Board awarded the event to Springfield, Mo. at the JQH Arena.
