Arrests made in relation to shots fired near the Connector
COLUMBIA, MO (April 26, 2016) - Columbia Police officers arrested Joseph Andrew Luckett, 22, Lajuan Marquis Martin, 22, and Johnathan Nicole Banks, 23, all of Columbia in reference to the shots fired incident near the Connector yesterday.
Through investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigations Division, detectives identified Luckett, Martin, and Banks as occupants in the suspect vehicle that shot at the victims’ vehicle. There were three victims in the vehicle at the time the shots were fired, an 18-year-old male, a 19-year-old female, and a 34-year-old female. The 18-year-old male and the 34-year-old female sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the fired rounds and transported themselves to a local hospital. The hospital was not definitively able to confirm if the injuries were caused by bullets, or by the car's glass or other vehicle fragments placed into motion by the bullets striking the vehicle. The amount of property damage to the vehicle is undetermined at this time.
Officers located Luckett, Martin, and Banks at 7:48 p.m. in the 1500 block of Sylvan Lane. A Street Crimes Unit Detective attempted to detain Luckett and Luckett resisted arrest. As the detective struggled with Luckett, Martin attempted to intervene and used force by attempting to strike the detective, as well as grabbing and shoving the detective. Both Luckett and Martin were eventually detained.
Luckett was arrested for Armed Criminal Action with a bond to be set by the Court, three (3) counts of First Degree Assault with bonds to be set by the Court, and Felony Resisting Arrest with a bond of $4,500.00.
Banks was arrested for Armed Criminal Action and three (3) counts of First Degree Assault with bonds to be set by the Court.
Martin was arrested for Armed Criminal Action with a bond to be set by the Court, three (3) counts of First Degree Assault with bonds to be set by the Court, Felony Interfering with Arrest with a bond of $4,500.00, and Misdemeanor Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer with a bond of $500.00.
