Volunteer Positions with the City of Columbia - Office of Neighborhood Services
The Office of Neighborhood Services works to support residential life in Columbia through
residential code enforcement, rental housing inspections, and developing strong neighborhood
leaders and organizations. We are looking for student volunteers this fall to help us
meet our mission!

Snow Removal Awareness Project: One position available. City ordinance requires that
sidewalks are to be kept clear of snow and ice by the property or premises owner or
occupant. Many properties are not cleared when ice or snow is present, causing a
challenge for those trying to use the sidewalk to travel to work or school. In cooperation
with the Bike & Pedestrian Commission and the Planning Department, this volunteer
would develop a brochure to communicate this issue to the public and may take
information door-to-door in a section of Columbia. Time commitment: flexible.
Information should probably not be distributed until November to be timely when winter
comes.

Location: Our office is located at 3601 S. Providence Road, just north of the intersection of
Providence and Nifong on the west outer road. Some of the work may be done independently
and away from our office.
